Just because I think that a good campaign can laugh at itself, here is the parody from Ogilvy of the Dove Real Beauty Sketches.
Olgilvy pokes fun at the differences between men and women’s self esteem levels and it rocks the point to the edge. As we all know, men can be blindly confident, while women can crumble into tears at the sight of a carb.
While Dove takes some punches, this parody just helped perpetuate Dove’s point of beauty appreciation even further, helping the campaign and company spread their message to even the male demographic, a usually very difficult feat for a feminine products producer. There are many parodies to follow and many more than further illustrate the point that men are indeed, as hot headed as we think, and that women can be just as pathetic.
